K-State Innovation Partners announces the release of DFCA Version 3.0. DFCA Version 3.0 consists of two new modules: Textile Process Simulator and Fabric Micro-Geometry & FE Mesh Analyzer.
Textile Process Simulator is a new module, which can be applied to simulate the 3-D weaving process and analyze mechanics during the manufacturing process.
Fabric Micro-Geometry & FE Mesh Analyzer can be applied to determine realistic filament- and yarn-level microgeometry for a 3-D woven fabric and generate conformal FE mesh for the fabric reinforced composite unit cell. The FE mesh can then be exported to commercial code, such as ANSYS.
K-State Innovation Partners announces the release of DFCA Version 2.0. A new function has been developed in this latest version of DFCA that can be applied to generate conformal FE mesh for 3-D woven fabric reinforced composite unit cells. The FE mesh that is generated can then be exported to commercial code, such as ANSYS. K-State Innovation Partners is excited to announce a collaboration with e-Xstream Engineering, part of Hexagon’s Manufacturing Intelligence division, to create a new user interface between DFCA and Digimat, an award-winning state-of-the-art multi-scale material modeling technology for composite materials and structures. The new interface provides Digimat users the option to import and utilize the highly detailed unit cells created by DFCA when working with woven reinforcements in Digimat-FE.
